Composer and chamber pianist

Education

- Grammar school ‘matura’ (1954) in Ljubljana.
- Diploma from the Ljubljana Music High School (1954).
- Ljubljana Academy of Music: Degree in piano (1960, class of Prof. Anton Ravnik), postgraduate studies and Master’s Degree in piano (1962, Anton Ravnik), degree in composition (1986, class of Prof. Uroš Krek).
- Further studies at the summer course for lieder accompaniment at the Mozarteum, Salzburg (1971).

Career

- Piano teacher at the Music School Šiška-Bežigrad, Ljubljana (1958-1960).
- Coach at the Ljubljana Intermediate Ballet School (1960-62).
- Coach (improviser) and the Meta Vidmar School of Expressive Dance and Ljubljana (1960-62).
- Artistic collaborator-vocal coach at the Ljubljana Academy of Music (1963-1987).
- Lecturer at the Ljubljana Academy of Music (1987-95).
- Associate professor of music-theoretical subjects for composers at the Ljubljana Academy of Music (1995-2000).
- In the period 1963-79, he was extremely active as piano accompanist at numerous concerts and recording (radio) studios both in Slovenia and abroad, accompanying the renowned mezzo-soprano Eva Novšak-Houška, as well as occasionally playing for other noteworthy concert singers: Zlata Ognjanović, Sabira Hajdarović, Alenka Dernač-Bunta, Milka Evtimova, Mitja Gregorač.

Awards and Prizes

- Performance of the piano composition Three Monothematic Pieces (played by pianist Beatrice Rauchs) at the World Music Days in Luxemburg, 2000.
- The Kozina award: 2013: za opus samospevov in klavirske glasbe
