EDUCATION:
- Academy of Music in Ljubljana: degree in conducting and composition (1958).
CAREER:
- artistic leader and conductor of the Ensemble Slavko Osterc, touring all over Europe: concerts, festivals and recordings (1962-1982),
- secretary general of the Society of Slovene Composers for ten years,
- manager of the Editions at the Society of Slovene Composers (1970-2002),
- artistic director of the Slovene Philharmonic (1979-1995),
- member of numerous national and international juries, for instance at the Premio Citá di Trieste composing competition, at the Henryk Wieniawski competition for violin compositions and performance in Poznan, Poland (four times), at the Janos Ferencsik conducting competition in Budapest (three times), at the Youth and Music composing competition in Belgrade, at the Valentino Bucchi composing competition in Rome, for the World Music Days, Ljubljana and others.
PRIZES AND AWARDS:
- Pre¹eren Prize for best students for the 'Goga' Symphony, 1955,
- award of the Pre¹eren Foundation for his leadership of the Ensemble Slavko Osterc and for the compositions Quatuor 1969 and Intarsias, 1971,
- the ®upanèiè Prize awarded for creativity by the City of Ljubljana, 1977,
- first prize at the Henryk Wienawski international competition for the Sonata for solo violin in Poznan, Poland, 1976,
- first prize at the Uwharie Duo competition for Contacts between clarinet and percussion, USA, 1979,
- first prize at the Oscar Esplai competition for the symphonic poem The Picture of Dorian Gray, in Alicante, Spain, 1984,
- Kozina Award, Society of Slovene Composers, for six string quartets, 2001.
